For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jer 29:11)

Definition of a 'spoy'

Gilchrist family dictionary

Spoy

1. A combination of the two words boy and spoiled.

2. The word spoy is used to describe a particularly adorable baby boy who expects to be held/played with every waking moment of the day.  An example of a spoy is a baby who is laughing and smiling on his play mat, perfectly content, until all members of his family disappear from visual range.  A spoy will wait approximately 10 seconds, looking in all directions, before his lower lip will jut forward and tears fill his eyes.  At this point if a spoy does not receive immediate attention then he will burst into loud protest.

3. The family of a spoy are quite helpless, because they are completely in love with these delightful creatures.

Here are pictures of a spoy just so you understand how a spoy becomes a spoy.

Medical update/cute kids

I went in to see the surgeon on Thursday and was told everything looks really good and I can resume all normal activities (no extreme sports yet... sigh).  The surgeon also told me that after the lab results came back there was evidence that I have had chronic attacks for years.  He believes this would explain the super sickness I had during my pregnancy with Lana.  We are so encouraged and excited to see if I may be feeling better than ever before in the months ahead.  God has been so kind!

Life resumed

Well, my healing has taken a huge leap the last few days and I am feeling great!  We are thanking God for his grace through this season and a big thanks to my amazing friend Heidi for flying out and taking care of things this past week.  She and Blake had some special bonding times (especially in the middle of the night with a bottle).  Thank you, Heidi!

On a personally sad note, my sweet aunt, Eileen, was killed suddenly last week.  I remember so many times in my teens sitting at her feet while she would play with my hair and I will pour out my heart to her.  Aunt Eileen was a wonderful listener, deeply compassionate, and someone who loved to laugh.  She will be missed by so many, but right now all I feel is how much I will miss her, how much I already do.

We started school again today.  I am really hoping that now we can have a season of routine and simplicity.  I love that small things can be so exciting to the children and I look forward to having time to enjoying the simple things once again.
